Waste Sanitation Sorter

Join our dynamic waste management team as a Waste Sanitation Sorter, where your energetic attitude and attention to detail will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment. In this hands-on position, you will be responsible for sorting and managing waste materials, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring sanitation standards are met across various facilities. Your proactive approach will help keep our community and environment protected while supporting the smooth operation of waste collection and disposal processes. Responsibilities and Duties
  • Safely operate heavy machinery including loaders, excavators, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, garbage trucks, and other sanitation equipment to handle waste materials efficiently.
  • Sort recyclable materials from general waste streams with precision and care to promote recycling efforts.
  • Assist with loading and unloading waste containers using appropriate heavy equipment, ensuring proper handling to prevent accidents or damage.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas by performing routine cleaning tasks and ensuring sanitation standards are upheld throughout the facility.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment such as loaders, forklifts, and trucks to ensure safe operation and report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Support waste collection activities by preparing containers for pickup, securing loads properly, and assisting with the transfer of waste to designated disposal or recycling sites.
  • Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations to prevent injuries and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Skills
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, or garbage trucks is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of sanitation procedures and waste management practices.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift.
  • Excellent attention to detail when sorting recyclable materials from general waste streams.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with physical stamina for long periods of activity.
  • Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and waste handling is a plus.
