Job Description

Lead the financial backbone of a fast-growing construction company. Straticon is seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead all financial administration and fiscal management across the company, ensuring projects stay on budget, meet deadlines, and are supported by accurate, timely reporting. This is a director-level position reporting to the Director of Accounting. You will oversee project accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and internal controls, while partnering closely with Senior Management to develop and execute financial strategy and flag potential profit changes or risks. WHAT YOU WILL OWN Full leadership of business unit accounting, including accurate, timely monthly closes and regular management reporting within the integrated CMiC business system. Forecasting of WIP along with other income and expenses. Contract review, project setup, billing setup, and client meetings as needed. Weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages, bonuses, deductions, and taxes. Payroll records, timekeeping audits, and resolution of payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries. Compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, tax reporting requirements, and company policy. Financial strategy development and execution in partnership with Senior Management, aligned with business unit initiatives. Recommendations and implementation of new or modified internal control procedures. The annual budget and monthly forecasting process, from facilitation through consolidation. Reports summarizing and forecasting company business activity, income, expenses, and the balance sheet. Cash management, collections, and payments, in partnership with Treasury. Process and systems improvements and best practices across accounting and the broader company. Complex journal entries and their impact on the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows. Support for the annual external audit and year-end financial reporting for the business unit. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field. Job cost and revenue recognition accounting experience for construction companies. Progressive project accounting experience is a plus. A track record of success operating in a fast-paced, rapidly growing company. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and presentation skills, with proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Direct experience with integrated accounting software.
