Job Duties for the Controller:
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
Manage construction accounting activities such as job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Lead cash flow management, forecasting, and budget development
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls and accounting policies
Coordinate with external auditors, tax providers, and banking partners
Analyze project financial performance and provide insights to leadership
Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
Qualifications for the Controller:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with construction industry experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction financials
Proven ability to manage deadlines, lead teams, and partner with operations
Location: Bethesda, MD (onsite 5 days per week)
Compensation: $140,000 – $165,000
